About me

I have a masters degree in geography and atmospheric, a Ph. degree in natural science and a teacher’s degree in geography and physics from the University of Zurich. Furthermore I have a teaching professor degree from state of St.Gallen and a teaching position at the physics department of Kantonsschule Wil (Junior College). My current scientific work focuses on the implementation of sophisticated tools for the processing and validation of image spectrometry data. Beneath work I like climbing in the Swiss alps, skiing and playing piano.

Curriculum

Schläpfer, Daniel Rolf, Dr.sc.nat., Prof.

Switzerland; born in St.Gallen.

Daniel Schläpfer received a masters degree in geography and atmospheric physics at the University of Zurich in summer 1994. During his dissertation work he focused on the physically based retrieval of atmospheric constituents from imaging spectroscopy data. He received the Ph. degree in natural sciences in fall 1998 and he holds a teacher’s degree in geography and physics. In 2009, he received a teaching professor degree from state of St.Gallen.

His current scientific work focuses on the implementation of sophisticated tools for the processing and validation of image spectrometry data. These tasks include:

the further development for the parametric orthorectification package PARGE which is used for operational geometric processing of hyperspectral data,
the implementation of tools for the simulation of the hyperspectral signal, maintenance of the Modtran Interface MODO, and advancing the technology for radiometric preprocessing of hypersspectral data; including BRDF and compensation of atmospheric effects using ATCOR technology.
developing next generation atmospheric compensation and reflectance retrieval routines for drone data processing and remote sensing in mining and environmental analysis. in the DROACOR software.

In 2000, he founded the company ReSe Applications which was transformed in a limited liability company in 2018. ReSe is focused on the development and distribution of imaging spectroscopy related software. Furthermore, he also holds a teaching position at the physics department of Kantonsschule Wil (Junior College).
