Research
My most recent project is the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme project named: m4mining
Software Development
- PARGE development of automatic processing chains for NEO Hyspex, Hymap, Headwall Hyperspec, and Specim AISA systems.
- DROACOR development for close range imaging spectroscopy data processing, horizontal ground based data acquisition and thermal infrared temperature-emissivity separation.
- Development of BRDF correction (BREFCOR) and Shadow correction (SHAOT) for high resolution airborne instruments.
- ATCOR-ADS (swisstopo), implementation of operational radiometric processing chain for Leica ADS systems, since 2013.
- BREFCOR (ReSe), development of a model based BRDF effects correction scheme, since 2012.
Research
- Geo-atmospheric Processing (ReSe, ongoing): Development and operationalisation of the parametric geocoding application PARGE. Integration with the atmospheric correction package ATCOR4 in close Collaboration with DLR Munich/Rudolf Richter, since 1996.
- Airborne PRISM Experiment APEX, (ESA): Design of major parts of the APEX prpocessing chain and definition of its specifications, 1998-2008.
- Alpine Ecosystem (SNF): Development of methods for the use of imaging spectrometry data in characterization of permafrost areas in Alpine regions. Support to the development of the ‘TEBAL’ Energy balance model, 2000-2001.
- Performance and Calibration Requirements for APEX (ESA-Prodex): Development and implementation of methods for the definition of requirements for airborne imaging spectrometers. Derivation of a model for noise equivalent radiance calculation from scientific requirements, 2001.
- HyMus (ESA): Study concerns the synergy of optical data of various scales. Hyperspectral and Multispectral data are compared in relation to the impact on biophysical parameter retrieval at various scales. The scales include the spatial, the temporal, and the spectral dimensions. The study was initiated in connection with the LSPIM mission, 2000
- SENSOR (RSL): Development of an end-to-end sensor simulation tool for hyperspectral images including topography, atmosphere, sensor optics and electronics, 1999
International Collaboration
- EUROSDR – Radiometric Analysis and Atmospheric Correction of Airborne High Resolution Photogrammetric Systems, (2010).
- Swiss National Science foundation (SNF/RSL/PSI): Exploration of the potential of imaging spectrometry data for environmental analysis in atmospheric and limnologic research, 1995-1998.
- M4mining Multi-scale, Multi-sensor Mapping and dynamic Monitoring for sustainable extraction and safe closure in Mining environments. M4mining is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under Grant Agreement ID 101091462 and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), 2023
